York Minster a master piece

The Minster that we know and love today took about 250 years to build, and is renowned as an artistic and architectural masterpiece. In this centre for Christian worship there is a wealth of history to be discovered. There is always something to see and do at northern Europe's largest Gothic cathedral.

Experience the beauty of the Quire and the Octagonal Chapter House, constructed between 1260 and 1286. Explore the history beneath your feet in the Discover history in the Undercroft, Treasury and Crypt. Descending into the Undercroft is like stepping back in time. When the Central Tower was in serious risk of collapse in the late 1960’s, work was done to strengthen its foundations. As work was commencing, the workers stumbled upon remains that once existed on the site. You can see these remains for yourself whilst taking a tour of the Minster where you'll find traces of the earlier Norman Minster and of the Roman headquarters where Constantine was proclaimed Emperor and the foundations laid for two thousand years of European Christianity. In here you will also find some of the Minster’ finest carvings

If you can scale the 275 steps to the Central Tower, you will enjoy the best views of York and the countryside beyond. On the way up, the medieval Gargoyles and Pinnacles will be watching you! From the highest point in the City you can see as far as The White Horse at Kilburn, to the Yorkshire Wolds. Those who have reached the top can also buy an attractive badge to mark their achievement from the Group Visits desk at the Minster! Whilst on a guided tour at York Minster you can discover the hidden areas and Crypts. These are areas that have been previously off limits to members of the public. You can observe history up close at the Glass Conservation Studio at Bedern Chapel, a treasure house of 800 years.

Whilst at York Minster you can also visit it the Minster café serving light refreshments, meals and a quality coffee.

After a day discovering the splendor of York Minster it is easy to find excellent cafes, restaurants and accommodation just a short distance away. Some accommodation is also set in historical architecture with original features in rooms. From Hotels, Bed and breakfasts in York, Guest houses and apartments all offer a comfortable and quality service that will only prolong your enjoyment of York and the Minster itself. What has york got to offer me?

York is a city which is visited by many thousands of people each year, York appeals to so many people from all around the world because of its History and all the arcitectural  history like Yorkminster cathedral which alone is enough to draw people into its historic city walls.Yorks railway museum has the best collection of the worlds trains any where in the world from the more modern bullet  train and deisel engines to the historic flying scotsman and the mallard the fastest engine of its day not to mention Thomas and his friends for the real kids.  Visit the vikings at Jorvik viking centre were you get a real taste of what it was realy like for people when the vikings came to stay.

York has a fantastic race course with award winning modern grandstands, characterful Listed buildings, manicured lawns and home grown flowers   set the scene for the best of racedays. See the leading horses and jockeys perform York Racecourse is located just 1.5 miles from the railway station and the city centre. Set in 150 acres of scenic parkland, it is a   hugely popular venue with its award-winning, facilities, first-class catering and beautiful surroundings and with meetings being held through out the summer months drawing in many thousands of daily visitors makes York a very busy place.

With so much going on in and around York finding the right accommodition can be difficult because of the amount of choice available and making the   right choice could be the differance between a good stay or excellent stay. There are three mane factors which may influance people were they would consider staying   such as how many of you are traveling cost, flexability and lengh of stay.

Hotels and bed and breakfasts in York are most peoples first choices when thinking about accommodation when on a over night stays or a short break but are they the   best value for money solution for right now i dont think so. Its not a new concept but one that is becoming ever more popular with people who want that bit more  when staying away from home. A serviced apartment gives you something that a hotels or a bed and breakfasts can not, they give you a complete living space with  more of your home comforts.

In a serviced apartment you get living accommodation that you have at home such as kitchen, living room many having wifi and sky tv,seperate bedrooms and bathroom some sleeping upto  six people and all this is on offer for around the same price as a good size double in a hotel or bed and breakfast, making them a very good alturnative.Serviced apartments  give you the perfect retreat after a days activities some where you can cook your own meals allowing you greater flexability. You can find lots of city centre apartments  that will give you a much higher standard accommodation and a more flexible way to stay rather than that of a hotel or bed breakfast.

I would say to anyone looking for the best accommodation with the most flexability is a serviced apartment as they offer all the things you would find at home  and tend to offer a lot more for your hard earned. So when trying to find that perfect place to stay have a look at what serviced apartments in York have to offer  it is something different that not many people think of when considering over night accommodation. Once you have stayed in a serviced apartment you probabley   wouldnt go back to staying in a hotel or bed and breakfast ever again

Advantages of holiday lets when staying in York

It is that time of year again when you are considering the thought of your holiday and it can be a very stressful time. There is a million and one things to think about
and one of the biggest is where you are going to stay on your trip. Alot of the time your accommodation depends on which part of the world you choose
to visit. Alot of the time if travelling abroad many people purchase a faceless package deal which includes travel fair, hotel or lodgings costs and so on.
Some people however prefer to custom build their holiday package finding their own lodgings and by doing so saving money and aquiring themselves and the rest
of their group a better quality accommodation.
Where you and your family lay your head at night should be a high on your list of priorities when it comes to planning your trip away. A traveller needs
to be able to see reviews from other people who have stayed at a place to really gauge its quality. Star ratings can fluctuate as can standards
especially at some faceless hotel chains. There are options available to you other than the run of the mill package deal and sub standard lodgings.
A holiday let has typically so much more to offer than a standard hotel or apartment. The time and care has been taken to assure everything is to the satisfaction of the customer
Holiday lets in York are typically priced per week and prices do vary depending on the time of year as can be expected. These lets provide economy to those of us with familys
needing space for those home comforts we all need when travelling with children. Holiday lets are available in a wide choice of locations be it serviced apartment slap bang in the middle of a busy city,
or a luxurious barn conversion out in the peace and tranquility of the open country side.

Bed and breakfasts in York

Bed and breakasts are usaly the choice of people who dont want to be paying for over priced rooms in hotels but still want quality and comfort. York has hundreds of bed and breakfasts to choose from no matter what your buget, all bed and breakfasts include a home cooked breakfast that are included in the price and the best having on suit, tv and tea and coffee making fascilities in the rooms. The only thing you have to do is make the right choice of where you wish to stay.  York is a huge place with lots to see and do and there are bed and breakfasts located all over from the city centre to the out skirts of town and rural locations. The good thing about all bed and breakfasts no two are the same and you get a much more personal experience rather than that of a hotel in York Bed and breakfasts offer a much wider range of accommodation from a simple cheap clean room to the very impressive rooms with four poster bed for the more romantic.  There are some things to remember about bed and breakfasts, that you pay per person and not per room so if there are four of you staying it could cost you quite alot of money. Make sure berfore you book you know what fascilities are provided in the rooms as you dont want to walking down the corridoor at 2 am and waiting in line for the loo. Bed and breakfast in York can be a good way to find your accommodation as most offer great value for money because of this you get alot more to choose from. So you dont have to rush in and book the first one you see take your time when planning to travel to York and make the right choice of accommodation as it could be the difference between a good trip or an excellent one.

Places to stay in York

York is a very popular place, visited by millions of people a year from all corners of the globe. This makes finding accommodation in York sometimes quite difficult, so anyone thinking of travelling and staying here are advised to find suitable accommodation well in advance to avoid any feeling of dissatisfaction that follows the failure of axpectations to manifest.
The history of York and its many attractions are what makes it a popular destination for travelers from all over the world. The vickings were one of Yorks first ever over seas vistitors and liked so much they stayed for hundreds of years. Thousands of train spotters flock to York every year to take in the sites of the national railway museum with features like thomas the tank engine and his friends for the kids and the recently refurbished flying scotsman.

There are many different types of lodgings available to suit every traveller and their budget. Were you choose to stay may be influenced by several factors these include length of stay, who is on the trip and how much you have to spend. For instance if you stay in a standard hotel room with your whole family for a week it could be quite exspensive not to mention cramped and generally inconvenient. In this situation you would be better off choosing a serviced apartment or holiday let because they have much more space and the home comforts you need when you travel as a family.

Hotels and bed and breakfasts in Yorkare more suited to couples and those travelling on their own because of the limited space and amenities. Hotels offer a wide range of accommodation form standard on suit rooms to the more luxurious suits that include seperate bedrooms e.t.c. Boutique hotels are quite a new concept and sometimes offer themed rooms for those that are looking for that little something that other hotels do not offer.
If you are planning on staying for just one night or a week your best option in my opinion would be to try and find a serviced apartment in York. They offer high quality aswell as having very good facilities that usually include fully fitted kitchens, bathroom, wireless internet, sky tv all at a price you can afford. A two bedroomed apartment will sleep upto six people and you pay per room not per person, meaning you can save money and have a home from home to stay in.

Alternatives to hotels when staying in York

In the current unstable economic climate we  should all be on the look out for the best deals available when it comes to finding some were to stay when travelling. When coming to stay in York you are offered a wide range of  accommodation. Hotels are what people tend to think of first when staying in the city centres as they have had a monopoly on these areas for years.
There are other places to stay that give you all the luxury you would associate with a hotel plus more and at a price far to suite every budget. Where is this? i hear you ask, well you could look at booking into a bed and breakfast. Bed and breakfast rooms can be really nice with more and more modern establishments with fresh decor popping up all the time. There is a big lack of bed and breakfast accommodation in the city centre of York and it does go fast so you would be well advised to book early.
A new concept in temporary lodgings are serviced apartments, serviced apartments are basically apartments that are letted on a short term basis, from a day to around two weeks. Being an apartment you have a lounge area, seperate bedrooms and kitchens with appliances making it more homely and cost effective, being able to prepare your own meals saving you for countless meals out. Alot of these apartments are located in the city centre right next to all the local tourist attractions and night life.
In  serviced apartments York the customer pays per room per night not per person as they will with lets say a bed and breakfast, making them potentially a real  money saving solution to staying away from home without having to give up on any of the comforts you would associate with home.
No matter for what reason you would like to visit York be it a holiday or a business trip there are alternatives to hotels as a solution to temporary accommodation and with some of these alternatives you would not have to have any compramise in quality, taste or standards.
