York Minster a master piece



The Minster that we know and love today took about 250 years to build, and is renowned as an artistic and architectural masterpiece. When the Central Tower was in serious risk of collapse in the late 1960’s, work was done to strengthen its foundations. As work was commencing, the workers stumbled upon remains that once existed on the site. You can see these remains for yourself whilst taking a tour of the Minster where you'll find traces of the earlier Norman Minster and of the Roman headquarters where Constantine was proclaimed Emperor and the foundations laid for two thousand years of European Christianity.
